ICW @ Calle Ocho Cancelled!

Wait a minute, not only was this event schedule and I had heard nothing about it, but at least Blue Demon Jr. (the NWA World Champion, after all) was going to appear there and possibly wrestle? Why wasn't this advertised at all beforehand?

i guess production forgot to talk to advertising about this one. if fusion, the nwa rep in fl, would have brought blue demon, jr in, the traffic on this site would drop. people would be sick of hearing about it and would buy a ticket just to stop the posts about the nwa champ's match against the sheik.

Well, their was no promotion about it, because like last year there really wasn't a need to promote it. The Calle Ocho event would be a promotional tool for us. We can't charge tickets, because anyone going to Calle Ocho would have seen it for free. Calle Ocho is actually 8th Street in Miami and every year over 1 Million people gather in the street for a huge block party. Last year ICW was one of the major attractions, this year it would have been the same if a ring would have shown up, but no big deal, Saturday, ICW will be kicking ass once again.

You know what I think of the quality of your shows and your 'wrestling' but I will give you and your guys this: You guys do manage to successfully market the hell out of what it is that you do. That's a real skill, and it is impressive, especially if you look at what the product is. You deff do have some talent, even if you don't realize where it actually lies. (yes, it's a compliment.)

What i like about you Lew is that there is nobody out there so honest and straight the F*^k out. You tell it to the face. I respect you and you know well I do. But just wanted to write on here about how i felt just to write lol.

ICW USED to be a backyard. Without a doubt I can't deny it. And everyone knows I used to be a part of it. When I started my training with Soulman Alex G, it completely change my mind and I knew what i had done was not legit. I thought I was this "Wrestler" but I really wasn't. Why am I back with ICW? ICW is a family. Every single person in this family goes to Rusty's School of Hard Knocks Wed, Sat and Sun to train for 4-5 hours even under the rain. This including ladies such as Angel Rose, Calypso and new student Trina Mason. And When i say students I include myself because I am a student of the art or wrestling and I will always be. So much to learn. We have received help at the school from Chasyn Rance, The Lifeguards, Chris Jones, Craig Classic, Johnny Vandal, Dantastic, Maximum Capacity, Billy 5 and more...ICW has stepped it up from getting out of a parking to filling up that parking lot with close to 200 fans, to finally getting legit venues and packing the house with 100+ paid fans. (Which you did give credit to Lew and thanks). ICW's product has grown from "nothing" to more than something. Jorge Portuondo has created something incredible and will continue to grow. I have worked for a group of companies i simply love to work for from Fusion to D1PW but i love working for ICW too because yes the workers do receive a cut. ICW doesn't run to squash anybody else but just because those group of guys we have love to wrestle in front of family, friend and fans so they just give it their all. ICW is working of have worked with Rusty Brooks, Blue Demon, Norman Smiley, myself, Mykal Manix, Bobby Sanford and JT Flash, Michael Sain, Chasyn Rance, J Dawg Brooks, JB Cool, Flex Magnum and Big Daddy Gonzo, Soulman Alex G, Ram, Falcon and others who have helped in the growth of the product. All I can say is no matter what, life is life and what we do always screws up what we might do in the future. Its hard for people to let go of shit. But everyone knows im a nice guy and I have never disrespected anybody and never will because i respect everyone in the biz because we all share a goal, a dream and a passion so all I can say is, dont just sit there and call us backyarders only because of word of mouth or old experience, because I KNOW im not a backyarder. I bust my ass every damn weekend at school for 5 hours not stop with my sister Angel Rose to get better and better because there is no going back and if I was a backyarder I would't be working or worked for Fusion and D1PW and others becuase they are top notch and they dont book backyarders. Just Come check out an ICW event now. And well everyone is entitled to their opinion but just come check it out. Last night ICW ran at my gym and the crowd left happy thanking me over and over again that they had never had that much fun in their lives. That is legit. no K5. They simply loved it and they all stayed to even meet the wrestler and heck even to help us tear down the place. That to me shows that we did our job last night. And those 100+ fans will come back with 100 more. Just come to the next event. Support Florida Indies PERIOD! Later fools!
