I wonder how long it will take until Wrestling and Football are banned in the USA

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/otl/news/story?id=4724912

So this article points out that Boxers, Wrestlers, Football Players (and I would assume MMA fighters) who receive several blows to the head over several years eventually go crazy. Simply said, getting hit in the head is bad for you. (Thanks for the fuckin' update).
So with today's self help, twelve step, left over, hippie generation trying to make illegal (not make you aware, but take away your RIGHT to) anything that can damage your body, I wonder how long it will be until some lawmaker decides that football should be banned.
I think that it was Shawn Murphy (I could be wrong) that said that seatbelt laws are bullshit. You are telling me that it is illegal to not wear a safety device. Hey, if I don't want to who are you to tell me that I HAVE to. It does not hurt anyone but me. But someone somewhere said that you have to wear them. Actually as I type this I wonder if that law was enacted because in a traumatic car accident you are likely to bounce around the vehicle like a bouncy ball, thereby causing possible injury and/or death to any other passengers in the vehicle. Still if that is the case, what if you are riding alone? Tell me one person that was killed by someone flying out of their car during an accident.
Anyway, back on topic. Football/Wrestling/MMA pretty much any competitive high-impact situation has the potential to cause permanent injury. So how long until someone says that we can not do it anymore?
I like to think that people have realized that there are other things that have been PROVEN to cause permanent damage and are left alone (Booze/Tobacco etc.) so this will fall into this category, but with today's age, who knows?

people make WAY too much money on football for it to ever be outlawed

We need to be protected from ourselves, there is no end to what we may do, we can't be trusted...Damn shame that we are so irresponsible.

Thank the almighty Imperial Government for looking out for our well being. It's comforting to know there is a group of people that have never taken chances or physically tested themselves or ever done anything remotely dangerous, to tell us how to live our lives.

Daron, I started thinking that too, along with the tobacco thing. People make WAY too much money off of tobacco for it to ever be outlawed, at least that is my impression. But you can still see big tobacco's predatory tactics. Camel recently introduced a product called SNUS and they do promotional things for it all the time here at QT and Camel reps come to my wife's bar all the time. A friend of mine said that the Camel rep would not give him a sample cause she said he was "too old, and not in her demographic" which to me sounds like "eh, you will die sooner than that 21 year old drunk at the bar, so I will go give this to him to "enjoy" for the next 40 years." Sounds kinda like a drug-dealer I used to know (scumbag), he would target younger people only he would sell to anyone.
CANNON, I agree. I for one am very glad that there is someone that I can rely on to tell me how I need to live my life. How much I need to eat, drink, not to smoke, wrestle, play violent video games, drive fast, eat red meat, fuck, brush my hair violently, kick cats, masturbate etc.. of course someone who has NEVER done any of those things.

we NEED Tobacco. We need unsafe cars, dangerous electrical sockets and lethal food.

Let's be honest.. Who didn't know smoking was bad? Who didnt know eating 10 big macs a day wasnt the best idea? Who wasnt aware if you put a butterknife in an outlet you get fried? Or if you piledrive your little brother you may kill him?

EVERYONE KNEW.

However, there was that 2% of defects, people who, for whatever reason, didnt have the tools needed to exist on this planet. These things used to, back in the day, take those 'wounded gazelles" out of the pack, sort of speak. Nowadays, we've made everything so safe, so protected that there is no way for these people to 'fall off', so they grow to adults and live in our society, fucking eveything up for the rest of us..

The government is not suposed to tell me how to live. It's suposed to raise an army, build/keep up roads, impose taxes on trade and run the mail.. Beyond that, as long as I dont harm anyone else, the Government should have no interest in what effects my personal life, good or bad. It just is not their job.

There's this document called a Constitution.. people should, at some point in thier lives, read it.
